Jacob Ashley, MBA, PMP
Jacob founded J. I. Ashley Consulting in 2022 after a career that reads as several careers: more than a decade in the Army and Army National Guard, four years delivering products for companies like Nike and Verizon, an MBA, and now the founding of an AI infrastructure company. The thread through all of it is the same. He learns a hard domain quickly, builds the system the problem actually needs, and stays accountable for whether it works.
Service
The firm is veteran-owned. Jacob joined the Army in 2015 and has served ever since, nine years enlisted before earning his commission as an officer. Along the way he led programs across a 500-person organization and a portfolio of more than $350 million, and authored a counter-drone framework that was adopted enterprise-wide. Military program leadership is where he learned to make high-consequence decisions on imperfect information, and to build processes that hold up when the pressure is real. Clients get that habit of mind in every engagement.
Education and credentials
- MBA, Portland State University. Concentrations in finance, strategy, and entrepreneurship. Co-managed a $700K student investment fund, where a high-conviction IT sector strategy returned 41% on invested capital and earned a D.A. Davidson award for outperforming the S&P 500, Top 3 risk-adjusted among more than 20 universities.
- PMP, Project Management Institute. Active certification.
- CBAP, IIBA. Certification in progress.
The firm today
J. I. Ashley Consulting works from San Francisco at the intersection of business strategy and applied AI. Every engagement carries the same standard: claims get measured, results get published where the client wants them published, and clients own what we build for them.
